The Story Behind Chapter One

I wanted to start the book with a chapter with some action to get your attention.  It was also important to establish Linvin and his capabilities.  For inspiration I drew on battles from Rome and Carthage.  This chapter took quite a while to get just right.  Farder was there for pure comedy.  I felt that there needed to be some humor in there or it would just be too intense.  What are your thoughts about the chapter?  And if battles are not your thing, worry not.  There is quite the story to follow.  But give me your thoughts on the chapter.  Looking forward to the feedback!
